FIBERS FOR BETTER DIGESTION

Do you have problems with your digestion? Perhaps you aren't eating enough fibre throughout the day. Fibre is essential in order to have an optimal functioning gut and it can help to improve your digestion 🌿🌿

If you have problems with your digestion and does not pass bowel motions easily, it could be because you are not eating enough fibre during the day.

Fibre is part of plant foods and it is essential for us in order to have optimal functioning of the gut. Fibre feeds our gut bacteria and supports regular bowel motions (which is key! Because what we eat is not only essential for our health, but what we eliminate and get rid of is also very important for our health and well-being).

Fibre helps to "clean" our intestines of bacteria, it adds water and bulk to our stool and it controls our blood sugar levels through slowing our digestion.

You can choose to take a fibre supplement (fx psyllium husk), but the most important would be to optimise your whole foods intake and get your fibre from plant sources.

Foods that are high in fibre:

  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Unripe bananas
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Avocados
  • Nuts & Seeds
  • Flaxseeds
  • Chiaseeds
  • Beans
  • Lentils
  • Most vegetables (fx carrots, broccoli, cauliflower)

So if you are having problem with your digestion, then try to eat more fibre-rich foods. However don't go from eating nothing of these to eating tons, but gradually week by week try to consume more of these and see what it does to your digestion.

+ Of course also remember to drink plenty of water during the day, as this can really help your digestion - and your overall heath - as well!
