ZERO WASTE BATHROOM ESSENTIALS
I made an article a while ago for Sustain Daily about ways in which you can make your bathroom more sustainable. I thought that I would translate it into English and add some more things on it as well and show you, how you can make your bathroom more zero waste.
1. Switch to reusable cotton pads
Instead of using single-use cotton pads, buy some reusable ones which you can just wash after use and then use again and again. For make-up removal use some almond oil and water on the cotton pad and use this to fx take off mascara.
2. Use a shampoo bar and an applecider vinegar hair rinse
Instead of buying plastic bottles of shampoo and conditioner, try to switch to a shampoo bar, and to make your hair more soft after using it try using an apple cider hair rinse afterwards.
3. Switch to a menstrual cup
Save money and save the environment from a lot of trash by switching from single-use tampons and pads to a menstrual cup, reusable cotton pads or menstrual panties.
4. Use a bamboo toothbrush
Next time you're buying a toothbrush go after one in bamboo instead of plastic, then it can be composted once you are done using it.
5. Make your own body products
There are a ton of DIY recipe's out there. You can make your own deodorant, make your own body lotion and so much more.
6. Go for skincare in glass, steel containers or without any packaging
Whenever you are buying skincare products, strive for fx oils in glass or cremes in steel containers. Or go for soaps without any packaging or soaps wrapped in cardboard which can be recycled afterwards.
7. Switch to a safety razor
Instead of buying plastic razor heads, then try to switch to a safety razor. This will also save you money in the long run since the blades are much much cheaper.
8. Make your own toothpaste
Make your own toothpaste in a glass container, easy, cheap and better for the environment.
9. Get a wooden hairbrush
If you have a hairbrush, then of course just use that, but if it is time to get a new one then go for a wooden one.
10. Make your own scrubs and face masks
You can easily make your own scrubs or face masks out of natural food ingredients such as coffee grounds, avocado, oats, salt, sugar, honey, bananas etc. There are so many awesome recipe's out on the internet, just google!
