HYDROLS FOR SKIN HEALTH

hydrosols

Many of you tend to ask about questions for what skincare to use, and I know you feel - I’ve probably spend more amount of skincare of all kinds than the majority of people. But, before sharing this, I have to first and foremost once again say that of course skincare can play a role in your skin, but if you are still eating crap most of the time, being totally stressed out and all of that, then the skincare won’t do much. You have to look at your body and your skin from a holistic point of view - there are many factors affecting it. Take good care of yourself - and your skin - all around 💕

When that is said, I want to share one of my new favourite skincare products - hydrosols, or distilled flower water.

I saw more and more ‘holistic skincare’ people starting talking about this on instagram, and then one of my regular customers in the health store came in and asked if we had 100% distilled bulgarian rosewater, and I asked more into it and she spoke so highly about it (this is what I love about working in a health store and sharing about health and skin etc. on insta, I might give plenty of advice to others - but I get just as much great advice back in return.

So I decided to buy myself a 100% distilled Bulgarian rosewater, and my skin has been LOVING it!

WHAT ARE HYDROSOLS?

Hydrosols are water-based products made from the distillation - by water or steam - of plant matter. Hydrosols are the water-soluble parts of the plant. Essential oils and hydrosols have similar properties, but hydrosols have a much higher water content. This means they are more gentle than essential oils and can be applied directly to your skin without you having to dilute them with a carrier oil.

BENEFITS OF HYDROSOLS

  • tones skin

  • tightens pores

  • calming and moisturizing

  • promotes healing of skin

  • soothes and freshen skin

  • maintains Ph balance of the skin

  • is amazing for hydrating your skin!

WHAT TO LOOK FOR?

Make sure to check that the hydrosols you buy is made from 100% distilled floral water. There are some face spray / floral waters out there which has been mixed and diluted with other ingredients.

A few good floral waters to go for:

  • rose

  • neroli

  • witch hazel

HOW TO USE IT?

Morning and evening and during the day whenever you need a little fresh-me up!

After you have cleansed your face, spray your face with your hydrosol. Then you can apply serum/oil and creme or whatever your routine consist of.

My current skincare routine is very simple and is just:
1) use a mild cleanser
2) spray my face with rose hydrosol (I’m currently using this one from Alteya)
3) squalane
4) a good face oil
(I mix a bit from different brands, but I’m currently using Tina Lykkegaard’s face oil which I received in a beautiful gift from Noell)
