SKINFOOD - FOOD THAT YOUR SKIN LOVES

"A healthy outside starts from the inside", or "You are what you eat". You've probably heard this before, but it's so very true! Not to say that some people aren't blessed with "lucky" skin and can just eat whatever they want and still have perfect skin. But over time, you won't be able to do so, if you keep eating processed foods, your body and your cells will eventually start to fail you, whereas, if you eat lots of whole foods and plants, you are fuelling all your cells with lots of nutrients, vitamins and minerals which your skin will love you for! 🥑💕✨

I've had a passion for holistic health and more natural skincare for many years. It all began with me suffering from digestive and skin problems in my late teens. I started to dive more and more into natural ways to "fix" my problems - and of course the body is complex and there can be many reasons for why your skin is breaking out, but one of the main reasons why my skin did, was because I wasn't eating enough real, whole foods - "skin foods".

Because what your skin loves is actually just that - whole foods - how the Earth has made it. Not all the processed, man-kind food products with thousands of ingredients, preservatives, sugar etc.

Your body, your health and your skin loves REAL, NATURAL, WHOLE foods.

I can clearly see on my skin when I eat too much "junk". I don't know whether that's a curse or a blessing, but my skin is clearly telling me through pimples and skin problems if it does not like what I eat.

So I try to eat as much whole foods as I can, and I make lots of smoothies to get some extra vitamins in and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated! 💦

FOOD YOUR SKIN LOVES

AVOCADO 🥑🥑🥑

Avocados are such a skinfood! They are high in healthy fats (the good kind of fat), that benefits many functions in your body - fx the health of your skin. Getting enough healthy fats is essential to keep your skin flexible and moisturised.

NUTS & SEEDS

Nuts and seeds are also an amazing source of healthy fats! Walnuts, pumpkins seeds, sunflower seeds etc.

SWEET POTATOES

Sweet potatoes are filled with betacarotene. Betacarotene functions as provitamin A, which means that it can be converted into vitamin A in your body. Betacarotene is found in sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach. When consumed the antioxidant carotenoids is incorporated into your skin and helps protect your skin cells from sun exposure. This can help prevent sunburn, cell death, and dry, wrinkled skin.

BROCCOLI

Broccoli is such a powerfood! It's full of many different vitamins and minerals that's important for skin health, including zinc, vitamin A and C.

GREEN TEA

I've already talked about the wonderful Green Tea before in this post! But green tea are rich in antioxidants, which can help protect your skin against sun damage and raging.

BERRIES

Berries are high in antioxidants which help keep free radicals under control. Free radicals in larger amount can damage your cells, causing oxidative stress in your body. Antioxidants helps to "fight" those free radicals (aka. what's speeding up the aging process and damaging your skin).
